Noise is harder to fight, but good airline standard earplugs should have a significant effect.

Many people also make the mistake of engaging in mentally stimulating activity late at night. Now that television is such an integral part of modern life, many people find themselves watching high action programs or films just before retiring to bed at night. This is not the way to put the mind into the correct state to induce sleep. It is much better to engage in relaxing activity such as listening to soft music in the two hours before bedtime.

It is also important to pay attention to your eating habits. It's best to avoid stimulants, especially late at night. The most prolific of these is obviously caffeine, and that is present in soft drinks as well as coffee. Avoiding any caffeine drink at any time of the day will be a good idea.

Even after making sure there is nothing irritating and troublesome in both your environment and your diet, you may still find that the problem persists. At this point, you need to think about bringing in a remedy specifically aimed at dealing with a sleep problem.

There are pharmaceutical drugs readily available, both from over-the-counter pharmacies, and by prescription. These should only be turned to as a last resort.
